Healthy eating habits are important whilst you have your braces on.
Drink plenty of water throughout the day
Eat slowly and carefully
Cut all foods into small pieces and chew on your back teeth. Avoid pulling your food apart with your front teeth
Eat plenty of vegetables, fruits, include lean meat, fish, poultry and/or alternatives, milks, yoghurts, cheeses and/or alternatives.

And take care to:
Consume only minimal amounts of sugars and foods containing added sugars

The best way to reduce the risk of decay during orthodontic treatment is to keep oral hygiene at a high standard and stop the intake of soft drinks, sports drinks and reduce food containing sugar

To reduce the risk of breakages it is best to avoid
Hard/crunchy foods – nuts, museli bars, ice, pork crackling
Chewy/Sticky foods – minties, mars bars, redskins, lollies
